Governor Palin who?

°
McCain taps Alaska Gov. Palin as vice president pick

Gov Palin who? was my first reaction to a blog post that I read a couple of minutes before Sen John McCain was supposed to announced his running mate. Then I turned on my TV quickly to CNN... Caught the moment when Sen John McCain was getting ready to reach for the microphone. Then he spoke.

A pretty brunette in dark suit came up... I listened to her and my first thought was, "An interesting tactical move by McCain..." but strategical? I don't know.

I was keying my reaction in another blog as I watched Gov Sarah Palin speak:

Am watching her speech as I write this… from what she’s saying, she’s a super woman. At any rate she sounds like a knock out… Absolutely great rhetoric coming out of her right now. She sounds like she’s an honest, competent leader.
I’m impressed (for the moment)…

Great speaker — a ton better than Mr McCain!

She sounds more presidential than McCain — hahahaha!

McCain seems like a lil boy beside her… hahah!

She speaks straight… knows how to deliver “populist” lines, not bad.

Sarah Palin who has just finished her speech — she sounds like a no-nonsense woman. She’ll be an asset to the McCain campaign.

I noticed though that immediately after she finished her speech, McCain said something like “that was a good speech” or something like that to her ear, she didn’t acknowledge it — simply turned around to someone else and waved; not quite a gracious lady there… that body language shows here’s a woman who will he hard as nail.

Good or bad? Don’t really know. Probably works in Alaska but in Washington DC? But frankly, my first impression is good. Pity she ain’t a Democrat.

Now, the election battle is gonna be really good. Wonder how Biden’s gonna go in there, i.e., taking on a young woman; I mean not that he shouldn’t but someone who is capable of saying to him “bring it on”… Woman’s every bit of a fighter it seems. McCain’s tactical move must have knocked the wind out of the Obama-Biden tandem for a split of a second.

Post scriptum: Just learned that Gov Palin has been an NRA lifelong member... guess what? They say she isn't nationally known? But that won't be a handicap anymore. NRA, one of the most powerful lobbying groups in the United States of America will be there -- all the of the NRA, its grass roots-gun toting members, its entire force will be mobilised to work out for her. She will have no problem reaching out to every potential voter hidden in every political nook and cranny of the United States; no stone will be left unturned to introduce her to every gun-wielding voter in America. I'm sure legions of rednecks are now signing up as her campaign volunteers even as we speak. She's just earned herself a ticket to national political stardom!

Sen McCain executed a brilliant tactical move. Well, it's a smart move short term... ooops, election is 2 months away. I guess that's all he needs. Question now is: Is she qualified to step in as commander-in-chief if something happens to McCain assuming he gets elected? Now, that is a very very very big question.

Sen Biden will have to play it cool when he debates her... won't be easy for Sen Biden; he will be seen trying to bully her if he asks tough questions. Just like what Alex Spillius said in his Telegraph blog, "Against a woman, Biden will have to tame his attack dog instincts and his tendency to patronize (in the nicest possible way) the fairer sex."

In addition to the NRA guys who could get mobilized because of her, the evangelicals who've been lukewarm to McCain so far might flex their muscles again because of her conservative credentials.

Argh. I suddenly got worried for Barack :-(

Hi Bill...

"I suddenly got worried for Barack"
LOL!

Barack has got to hit the electoral ground running double time, nay, make that treble time.

The Republicans will do everything and anything not to allow Obama to be the next POTUS.

Like in all nations, progressive or not, voters are not always intelligent. Many of them will vote with their prostate.
